About Me

I have a diverse 15+ year background in a variety of industries. I started as an Engineer. My first professional job was changing transmission parameters and then driving around cars at GM with a fire extinguisher (and hoping the car didn’t blow up) to gather test data. I was the only female on the floor! From there, I went on to become a Consultant – first Technical, and then Managerial (Strategy, Change Management, M&A). I got to work across the world/functions/industries and really enjoyed all of it!

After my son was born though, I decided to make some adjustments so I could not only be the best at my job but also be the mother I wanted to be. So, in 2012 I joined BHP and had multiple roles since then in Project Management, Leadership Development, Process Improvement, Innovation; a lot of things I did before, but in a more balanced way.

I have spent my career moving up the ladder but also bringing others along with me. I am happy to discuss any topics and will leave it to a few of the amazing women I have managed over the years to say how I may be able to help. “Emily is the very definition of EMPOWERMENT – of herself, of her teams, of her leaders, of the business, of the community in general.” “As a leader, she always prioritized guiding and developing her people to be the best. I’ve been lucky to work with her and I couldn’t recommend her more strongly.”

When I am in extrovert mode, my favorite things are spending time with family / friends – cooking, eating, having picnics, hiking. When I am in introvert mode, I read. A lot. Mostly non fiction and a variety of different topics from the background of cutlery (it’s actually interesting) to the biographies of the presidents.
